ABOUT US
Founded in July 2006 by a group of Polish actors GAPPAD is Scotland's first Polish/Scottish theatre company.
The base of our creative practice is physical theatre. In our work we want to cultivate Polish roots of physical theatre and ensemble work, taking inspiration from Eastern European physical ensemble theatre companies but being also inspired by western theatre traditions.
Gappad's artistic achievements up to date are two theatre productions: RE-ID (premiered at the Tron Theatre in 2007) and As You Always Do (premiered at the Tron Theatre in 2008), a dramatic miniature 11/11 and an international project of open theatre laboratory for actors Awakening The Body (summer 2008).
Gappad's performances were presented at many festivals including The Edinburgh FRINGE Festival, Govan International Festival, Leith Festival, Edinburgh MELA Festival and Festiwal Teatrow Zaleznych in Poland.
There's a dazzling amount of talent on view here,
both from director Robert Przekwas, and from the four performers, led
by Gappad founder Agnieszka Bresler;
as well as a blazing theatrical courage - a willingness to take chances,
push boundaries, and goad audiences out of their indifference.
Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman, on As You Always Do
A fascinating piece that brings a touch of Polish theatrical intensity on to the Scottish stage.
