AS YOU ALWAYS DO

Once upon a time there was a girl. She might have been your neighbour. Or sister. Your lover. Your enemy. Total stranger…?
You read her story in a newspaper on your way to work. And you believe in it. As always.
Would you dare to stop and question? Would you dare to doubt? Could you…?

After a highly successful run of their debut performance RE-ID in 2007, Gappad presents a new physical theatre performance confronting individual guilt with public judgment.
From hundreds of stories of missing people Gappad chooses and concentrates on one, exploring the nature of a ‘social trail’ where the defenceless victim becomes the enemy in the eyes of the public. The play follows a story of an anonymous female, who went missing and was then banished, judged in absentia and punished by the society.
Devised by the ensemble. Bilingual (Polish – English).

Reviews

There's a dazzling amount of talent on view here, both from director Robert Przekwas, and from the four performers, led by Gappad founder Agnieszka Bresler; as well as a blazing theatrical courage - a willingness to take chances, push boundaries, and goad audiences out of their indifference.
Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman

A fascinating piece that brings a touch of Polish theatrical intensity on to the Scottish stage.
Thom Dibdin, Evening News

Beautifully performed with feeling and sensitivity As You Always Do captivates throughout.
